 Frequently Asked Questions

How often is a fire alarm inspection required?
Most commercial properties are required to have their fire alarm system inspected and tested annually at minimum. Some components — particularly in high-rise, healthcare, or high-hazard occupancies — require more frequent testing. Your local AHJ sets the final standard, but NFPA 72 is the baseline requirement across Indiana and Michigan.
What happens if deficiencies are found?
We document all deficiencies in your inspection report and provide a written recommendation for repairs. Minor issues are noted for correction; any condition that poses an immediate life safety risk is flagged as a priority. Region Fire Protection also offers repair and service to correct deficiencies found during inspection.
Do you provide documentation for insurance or the fire marshal?
Yes. Every inspection includes a written report suitable for submission to your insurance carrier, AHJ, or property management. Records are also kept on file with us.
How long does an inspection take?
It depends on the size and complexity of your system. A small commercial building may take 1–2 hours. Larger facilities with hundreds of devices may require a half day or full day. We work around your schedule to minimize disruption to your operations.
Do you service systems you didn’t install?
Yes. We inspect and service all major fire alarm brands and manufacturers regardless of who originally installed the system.
